£16,741.75 over 19 years of age
£20,441.67 over 21 years of age
Contract: Fixed-term (typically 12–18 months), Full-time

Sherbourne Fields is an Outstanding all aged Special School catering for over 260 pupils with a broad spectrum of special educational needs.

We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice PE Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team.

About the Role:

As an Apprentice PE Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality physical education lessons, helping to promote healthy lifestyles and active learning. Working alongside experienced PE staff, you’ll assist with lesson planning, set-up and supervision of activities, and provide encouragement and support to pupils of all abilities.

You’ll also work towards a nationally recognised qualification in supporting teaching and learning in schools gaining valuable hands-on experience in an outstanding school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist PE staff in delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons
  • Support pupils during lessons and extracurricular clubs – both lunchtime and after school
  • Help set up and maintain equipment for sports and activities
  • Promote physical activity and positive attitudes to sport
  • Contribute to the wider school community and events
  • Support PE staff to keep evidence and assessment records

Are You:

  • Passionate about sport, fitness, and working with children and young people
  • A positive role model with good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths preferred
  • Previous experience in sport or coaching (formal or informal) is an advantage but not essential
