On Wednesday 3rd of November KS5 Land Maintenance group and KS4 ASDAN group visited Smiths Nurseries in Baginton.
Smiths Nurseries are wonderful supporters of ours.
They have a wonderful Christmas department too and you can even go and tag your own Christmas tree whilst it is growing and then Mike and his team will cut the tree down for you to take home.
The students explored different plants and discussed which were best to put into winter hanging baskets. The KS5 students bought some netting to try to control pests in the allotment.
Back at school KS3 students made the winter baskets in their Science lessons.
This collaboration not only adds to our sensory curriculum but is also a really valuable source of income for the department. The money raised from selling the baskets goes directly towards buying animal feed and vets bills.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas from Ann and Amanda in the Science department.
