Sherbourne Challenge 2018
Sherbourne Challenge 2018 - Almost upon us!
Having successfully scaled all 5 peaks in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, we had to think of another challenge that would enable us to push our students and show what they can achieve with the right support and guidance.
It was decided that we undertake a longer expedition, rather than a one-day climb. The place? Yorkshire.
This year, we will embark on the Three Peak Challenge in Yorkshire.
This will involve us climbing up three mountains in three days:
- Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres)
- Whernside (736 metres)
- Ingleborough (723 metres)
The weather forecast for the week is not too bad. Ideal climbing weather - 'Light Cloud & Breezy' say the BBC. Although, as we have come to find out during our last excursions, the forecasts are not always accurate, and we always seem to get wet at some point in the climbs!
The gear is packed, and the food has been purchased. A massive THANK YOU to Farmfoods. They have very kindly given us a voucher, which has allowed us to purchase the food for the week without any cost to the school.
We are now set for Challenge week.
We leave Monday morning and head for our home for the week, in Ingleton, in Yorkshire. We will then aim to climb a peak a day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
We will then return to school on Friday.
The students back at school will all have their own challenges to participate in over the week, so everyone at Sherbourne will be involved in what is always a fabulous week!
Of course, we will all be watching the World Cup, when we can, whilst we are there. Good Luck to England!
We will also be blogging over the course of the week, with some photos and news of how our climbs are going, so watch this space :)
