Our New Hens

Meet our new hens Sybil, Clarice and Henrietta. We rescued them from a Battery Farm on the 7th March through the British Hen Welfare Trust. They have only ever lived in tiny metal cages.

Now they are very happily living free range with our existing 7 chickens and 2 ducks. They are laying eggs already which are being sold to staff and the school kitchen. This means that your children are eating free range eggs from happy healthy hens. If you would like to buy hen eggs, small Chinese Silkie hen eggs or large duck eggs then just ask to speak to Ann or Amanda in Science.  The money we raise goes straight back into our animal care fund.

For advice on keeping chickens contact the British Hen Welfare Trust via their website which is http://www.bhwt.org.uk
